Death of Jake Bistrong sparks sister's desire to finish his first movie Red Line

The death of screenwriter and director Jake Bistrong was sadly announced by his sister earlier today. She has vowed to finish his debut movie Red Line and has set up a GoFundMe page in order to complete what was Jake’s lifelong dream. We send our condolences out to the Bistrong family.

Remembering Jake Bistrong

Jake Bistrong’s full name was Charles Jacob Bistrong and he was a screenwriter and a director. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, but was raised in Ponte Vedra Beach in Florida.

He was only 26 years old when he died. His sister Elizabeth Bistrong wrote that he had “passed away peacefully” on 8 June 2021.

Jake’s father is Richard Bistrong, the CEO for Front-Line Anti Bribery, who also works as a compliance consultant and as a writer and speaker.

He has shared some heartfelt words on his Twitter page.

His sister Elizabeth’s desire to finish his movie Red Line

Jake had been working on his debut film Red Line for the past year and had nearly completed its production.

However, as Jake passed away before his full vision could be realised, his sister has set up a GoFundMe page so that people can help to finish Jake’s dream. You can donate here.

The page has currently raised $23,062 of its $30,000 target.

The movie is based on Jake’s own experience, and follows a subway commuter who fails to notice a homeless man dying beside him.

Red Line’s screenplay had previously made it to the quarter final stage of the Holly Shorts Film Festival in 2020.

Jake Bistrong’s sister Elizabeth is currently working as a paediatric neuropsychology post-doctoral fellow. She is going on to work as a clinical neuropsychologist at NYU Rusk.

She posted on her Twitter account today trying to raise funds to finish Red Line.

Elizabeth wrote about her brother:

“His optimism, love, humor, passion, and strong friendships will forever live on for his beloved family and many, many friends.”

There is going to be a memorial service held at 11am on 18 June at Beth El Synagogue in Ponte Vedra Beach. We send our love and condolences to the Bistrong family during this difficult time.
