As Sergey Lavrov offers his gloomy opinion on a theoretical Third World War, there has been a surge of interest in the Russian foreign minister.
With the conflict in Ukraine continuing to escalate, politicians around the world have offered their thoughts on how the war between Russia and Ukraine might evolve. Russia’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov has been the latest to offer his thoughts, stating a Third World War would be nuclear and destructive, per Al Jazeera’s report.
In light of Lavrov’s statements, we have done some digging to find out more about Lavrov’s daughter and their life outside Russian politics.
Meet Ekaterina Lavrova
Ekaterina Lavrova is the only child of Sergey Lavrov and his wife of more than five decades, Maria Lavrova. She is thought to have been born in 1982, making her 40 years old.
At the age of four, Lavrova’s life was upended to the US after her father, Sergey Lavrov, was appointed Russian envoy to the UN, serving as senior adviser to the Soviet mission. Ekaterina Lavrova lived in New York for the next 17 years. She attended Columbia University in New York, studying political science.
Lavrova’s path would take her to London to pursue further education. It was there Ekaterina Lavrova met future husband Alexander Semenovich Vinokurov.
Lavrova currently works for the Smart Art company, which focuses on art production and creating exhibitions. It was founded in 2016 by Ekaterina Vinokurova and Anastasia Karneeva, the daughter of one of Putin’s associates whose company produces fighter jets. Smart Art oversees the Russian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. This has since been cancelled as a result of the war in Ukraine.
Some publications have mistakenly identified Sergey Lavrov’s daughter as a real estate agent based in Miami, Florida. The Ekaterina Ivanovna Lavrova who works as a real estate agent in Florida is in no way related to Sergey Lavrov. She is not his daughter, despite sharing the same name, and is not connected to their family.
