Who is Carlita Kilpatrick?
Carlita Kilpatrick is the first wife of former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. The couple wed in 1995 but divorced in 2018.
Court documents reveal Carlita and Kwame had been separated since January 2015, although the divorce was not finalised until July 2018.
It is unknown exactly where Carlita Kilpatrick is working now. In July 2013, she lost her $41,200 job working for the city of Duncanville, Texas, because, city officials told USA Today, she didn’t meet the job’s requirements.

Kwame rarely speaks of Carlita by name, although their very public relationship and marriage allows us to draw conclusions about who he is referencing.
In a Facebook post, written in 2018, Kwame spoke of his extra-marital affairs and the breakdown of his marriage to Carlita: “Honestly, I los(t) my marriage on January 24, 2008. Certainly it languish(ed) and limp(ed) along for ten years before the divorce was final… but the marriage was over that day.”
Kwame Kilpatrick had an affair with his ex-chief of staff Christine Beatty. In 2008, his affair was revealed after text messages were discovered between Kwame and Christine.

Yes. Carlita and Kwame have three sons – Jalil, Jelani and Jonas.
During the years Kwame was behind bars, his three sons fought for his freedom. Jalil, Jelani and Jonas devised a campaign and song to free their father, also establishing a Free Kwame website to raise funds.
Jonas, the youngest of the three children, raps under the name JoJo tha DoughBoi. Jonas released a music video entitled Too Much Time in May 2018.
All three sons were in Atlanta, Georgia, for Kwame’s release from prison.

Kwame Kilpatrick announces engagement to fiancée
On Tuesday, 8 June 2021, Kwame Kilpatrick appeared on the ML Soul Of Detroit podcast. He spoke about life out of prison after being granted clemency in January 2021 by former US President Donald Trump.
But Kwame Kilpatrick has big plans since his release, and none have to do with his former job.
In an interview with Deadline Detroit’s Allan Lengel, Kilpatrick said he is leaving politics to join the ministry and is engaged to be married to a Detroit woman.
Kwame’s soon-to-be second wife’s identity remains unknown.
