RIP Billy Jacobs: The artist’s death, aged 63, has triggered a wave of tributes online. The well-known country folk artist is based in Navarre, Ohio, but his art has been much-loved throughout the world.
Let’s take a look back and his life and career.
Remembering Billy Jacobs’ life and art
Billy Jacobs was interested in creativity from a young age, and always knew that art was the career he wanted.
He started his career in the country gift industry in the early 1980s, working as a woodcrafter and designer. In the 2000s, he turned his sights towards painting. Billy’s early drawings were inspired by photographs of the rural countryside that he had taken in the 1970s.

Billy’s work has always focused on landscape and still life scenes. He used both watercolours and acrylics, and much of his inspiration came from life experiences and specific scenes that caught his eye.
