He is the son of Indian cricketing legend, Sachin Tendulkar, who is the highest run-scorer of all time in international cricket.

Who is Arjun Tendulkar?

Unlike his father, Arjun is predominantly a bowler.

He bowls left-arm medium-fast and bats left-handed, although, at this stage of his career, he’s very much a tailender.

Arjun is 6ft 3″ tall, weighs 80kgs and was educated at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai [Stars Unfolded].

As a youngster, he represented Mumbai and India at the U19 level – appearing in a Youth Test series against Sri Lanka in 2018 – while he also played for MCC Young Cricketers.

The 21-year-old made his T20 debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Mumbai against Haryana in January 2021, returning figures of 1/34 from three overs.

He’s only played one further senior domestic match but was picked up by Mumbai Indians at the IPL 2021 auction for his base price of 20 lakh.

Being a squad member for the reigning IPL champions should be a real learning experience for Tendulkar, who will rub shoulders with global superstars such as Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult.

He’ll be hoping to make his debut at some point in the tournament, but competition for places will be fierce.

Mumbai Indians’ opening match is against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, before they face Kolkata Knight Riders and then Sunrisers Hyderabad at the same venue.
