Heavyweight boxer Kubrat Pulev has been hitting the headlines in and out of the ring in recent years. Now fans also want to know more about Jennifer Ravalo, the reporter he kissed following a fight in 2019.
Who is Jennifer Ravalo?
Jennifer Ravalo is a reporter for Vegas Sports Daily, a news outlet covering the NFL, NBA and boxing as well as entertainment and betting.
According to WaliKali, Ravalo is 42 years old and lives in Los Angeles. She is also an entrepreneur and chef outside her journalism duties.
Kubrat Pulev kiss controversy
Ravalo took legal action against Kubrat Pulev in March 2019 when the Bulgarian heavyweight boxer kissed her on the lips during an interview.
Pulev had knocked out Romania’s Bogdan Dinu in a bout in California earlier before kissing and embracing Ravalo in an interview while discussing the fight.
The reporter condemned the boxer’s actions, saying she had been left “humiliated” by the incident.
In a news conference, Ravalo stated at the time: “Mid-interview he grabbed my face and kissed me. I was immediately shocked and embarrassed, and didn’t know how to respond.
“I was there at the event covering the boxing match as a professional member of the press. Kissing a woman on her lips without her consent and grabbing her is not acceptable.”
“No woman should be treated this way.”
Pulev back in the ring on Saturday
The Bulgarian was fined $2,500 for his actions as well as being suspended and ordered to take sexual harassment prevention classes.
That ban was lifted in July 2019 after Pulev completed the sexual harassment prevention course, with the California State Athletic Commission voting 6-0 to reinstate his licence.
He now has his sights set on Saturday’s heavyweight clash with Briton Anthony Joshua, when the pair will be fighting at Wembley. The boxers will contest the WBA super heavyweight title as well as the IBF, WBO and IBO world heavyweight titles.
Pulev is bidding to become the first world heavyweight champion to hail from Bulgaria.
Pulev’s father, Venko Pulev, was a renowned heavyweight boxer in Bulgaria in the 1950s. Kubrat Pulev’s brother, Turvel, is also a heavyweight boxer and has won a European title.
