Who is Jordan Rock? Chris Rock's brother speaks out on Will Smith slap

After the incident between Chris Rock and Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars, members of Chris’ family have stepped forward to air their thoughts on the night, including Chris’ brother Jordan Rock. Let’s take a closer look at Jordan and what he had to say about the situation.

After Chris Rock made a joke about Will Smith’s wife, Jada, Will took to the stage and delivered a slap to Chris Rock, to the surprise of the audience and everyone watching at home.

Before the Oscars, not everyone knew that Chris had siblings. The comedian, in fact, comes from a family of ten, with eight children, giving him six brothers and a sister, according to Distractify.

Most of Chris’ siblings stay out of the public eye. However, some members of Chris’ family have taken to the internet to show support for their brother while he is on his latest comedy tour Ego Death, with fellow comedian Kevin Hart.

Who is Chris Rock’s brother, Jordan?

Jordan Rock is the youngest of the Rock siblings. Aged 31, he is a stand up comedian and actor.

Jordan dropped out of high school in South Carolina to pursue a career in comedy and acting. He then moved to New York to be closer to his brothers and get his big shot in comedy.

Due to his age, his comedy is mostly aimed at a younger millennial audience where he makes fun of himself and some of his older siblings for following his dream of acting and comedy, including the opener:

“I’m Jordan Rock. I’m the younger brother of Chris Rock. You guys have probably never heard of me. Because I’m the Solange of my family.”

Currently, he’s doing a number of improv and stand up shows across the country, including a sold-out show in DC, which he shared on social media, thanking his fans for purchasing tickets.

As well as a career in comedy, Jordan has also broken into the acting world, with roles in films like Big Time Adolescence, Human Unipede and Doors, as per his IMDb page.

What did he say about the Oscars slap?

Jordan took to Twitter to defend his older brother’s joke. Replying to other people’s thoughts on the situation, his sarcastic responses are delivered with a disclaimer of them being a joke.

While he didn’t post a comment of his own, Jordan interacted with other comedians and people who had just witnessed the event. He retweeted a remark from fellow comedian, Tom Cassidy, joking that he should fight Carlton (a character from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the sitcom Will Smith starred in that boosted his career.)

What did the other siblings say?

Jordan has been one of the quietest of the Rock siblings after the night in question, but his older brothers Kenny and Tony Rock had a lot to say about the incident.

Tony, who much like his brothers, is a stand-up comedian, conducted a Q&A session with his Twitter followers about the incident. In a tweet, Tony said that it’s ‘not his call’ on whether the Oscars should take action against Will Smith, as well as tweeting a promotional image from Chris’ latest comedy tour.

He also retweeted messages of support and admiration for how Chris handled the situation.

As well as this, Kenny Rock said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times that he is still shaken up by the slap more than a week after the event took place.

He told them: “It eats at me watching it over and over again because you’ve seen a loved one being attacked and there’s nothing you can do about it,

“Every time I’m watching the videos, it’s like a rendition that just keeps going over and over in my head.

“My brother was no threat to him and you just had no respect for him at that moment. You just belittled him in front of millions of people that watch the show.”

He also requested that Smith be stripped of the Oscar that he won later on in the night, and Will has since resigned from the Academy, issuing a statement via his representative.

He said: “I have directly responded to the Academy’s disciplinary hearing notice, and I will fully accept any and all consequences for my conduct.

“My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable.

“The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home. I betrayed the trust of the Academy,”
