Fresh Prince fans may recall that R&B star Tevin Campbell had a brief cameo on the sitcom before his later success in music.

Campbell, who got his start in the world of music in the late 80s, appeared in the classic sitcom before his career later took off in the 90s.

Interest in the singer’s early career has sparked after Campbell made headlines as he candidly opened up on his sexuality in a recent interview with People.

Who did Tevin Campbell play in Fresh Prince?

Fans of the 90s sitcom may recognize the R&B singer for his brief portrayal of the fictional teen singing idol Little T.

Little T was the celebrity crush of Will’s younger cousin Ashley. On the show, Ashley gets to meet Little T in person after her sister Hilary, who knew of the teen idol’s agent, asks him to perform at Ashley’s birthday party.

Sparks fly between the two as Ashley’s once celeb crush ends up falling for her back, with the two later seen to schedule to go on a date together.

When did the singer feature in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air?

Campbell only starred in one episode of Fresh Prince, which aired in 1991. The singer appeared in Just Infatuation, which was the 24th episode of the sitcom’s first season.

While he portrayed a teen singing star on the show, that same year, his debut album T.E.V.I.N. was released. 

For those curious to watch the Grammy-nominated artist’s cameo, his episode, as well as the show’s six seasons, are available to stream online. 

Fans in the US can stream Fresh Prince on HBO Max, according to Decider. In contrast, UK fans can find it on Now TV.

Alternatively, the full six seasons are also available on Amazon to buy online, meaning you can opt to purchase singular episodes or a whole season.

It’s not his only TV cameo 

Campbell’s Fresh Prince feature was not the singer’s only foray into acting, as he has a few other credits to his name.

Before appearing alongside the likes of Will Smith, Alfonso Ribeiro, and Tatyana Ali on the sitcom, his first acting credit was in 1989, according to his IMDb

As listed on the site, he starred in the TV movie Wally And the Valentines, which also cast Tatyana Ali, who portrayed Ashley on Fresh Prince. The following year he also starred in Prince’s 1990 film Graffiti Bridge.

In the 90s, he also featured in other TV shows The Parent ‘Hood and Moesha and more recently, in 2019, Campbell also had a guest role on OWN drama series Queen Sugar.
