Minecraft players will probably be familiar with composer C418 for his music, but what happened to C418 since his work with the game?
This week the composer took to Twitter as he announced the release of a new project he had been working on, with many fans having since reflected on his music as part of Minecraft.
We explore what C418 has been up to in recent years, away from his time working as part of Minecraft.

Get to know C418
C418, whose real name is Daniel Rosenfeld is a composer best known for producing music for Minecraft.
Rosenfeld began composing music for the game in its early years with his first and now most well-known soundtrack, Volume Alpha, released in 2011.
His second Minecraft release, Volume Beta, dropped two years later while his final singles Axolotl, Shuniji and Dragon Fish were all released in 2018 and featured in the 1.13 aquatic update.
Before the final three releases, C418 hinted at a possible third soundtrack on Twitter in 2017 as he revealed it would be longer than both his last two projects combined:
However, more recently, while chatting to music critic Anthony Fantano in January 2021, C418 admitted that while he considers the project finished, “things have become complicated.”

What happened to C418 since Minecraft?
Alongside his, Minecraft releases, C418 also released several other projects over the years, which he has continued in recent years.
The musician started releasing music as early as 2006, with his latest release, EP Cookie Clicker, which featured five tracks having dropped last year.
This week C418 also announced he had remixed a track of up-and-coming artist Qrion‘s on Twitter:
Elsewhere the composer has also been named to be working as part of the independent game development studio Ivy Road.
Also, more than a decade after his first Minecraft release, earlier this month, it was announced that C418 is one of the finalists in the Billboard Music Award’s top dance and electronic album category.
