Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu is a Nigerian politician and a national leader of the All Progressives Congress.
According to The Africa Report, Tinubu was Lagos State Governor from 1999 to 2007.
Tinubu was born on 29 March 1952 in Osun State, Nigeria. His mother, Abibatu Mogaji, was a trader that later became the Iyaloja (meaning “the leader of the market women”) of Lagos.
He moved to the United States in 1975, where he studied at Richard J. Daley College in Chicago, Illinois, and then at Chicago State University.
An accountant by profession, Tinubu’s political career began in 1992 when he was elected to the Senate.
Tinubu is now the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Although the title is honorific, it gives him power and influence within party structures.
