American singer-songwriter SZA, aka Solána Imani Rowe, attended the 64th Grammy Awards on Sunday, 3 April 2022 and took home the award for best pop duo/group performance alongside Doja Cat for their hit Kiss Me More.
Although she may have ended the night on a high, the 31-year-old artist left the event in a wheelchair due to an injury she suffered before the awards ceremony.

SZA attended the Grammys suffering an injury
When SZA collected her best pop duo/group performance trophy with Doja Cat at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (3 April 2022), she required crutches to get to the stage.
Speaking to Variety, SZA explained she hurt herself falling out of bed. She said: “Whenever something big happens to me, something crazy happens too.”
Over on Instagram, @sza shared a collection of images and videos from the event, with the final photograph showing her bandaged foot.
Why was the singer in a wheelchair?
SZA told Variety she had been using a wheelchair since suffering the injury but didn’t want to commemorate the night sitting in it. As she left the event, she told her publicist she didn’t want pictures of her while in the wheelchair.
However, Lil Nas X uploaded a video to Twitter showing him wheeling her around, joking in the caption he had become her personal carer:

After the event, Missouri-born SZA shared an Instagram story showing her standing up with crutches as the text told viewers she had finished her press work and was going “straight to the doctor”.
