Sylvester Stallone has issued a moving update on his longtime Hollywood pal and co-star Bruce Willis. The silver screen legends are together through thick and thin, as Stallone shared his support in a recent update.
Earlier this year, the actor’s wife, Emma Heming, along with his ex-wife, Moore, and their kids, Rumer, Scout and Tallulah, released a joint statement revealing Willis’ health was declining.
Stallone, 75, who has been friends with the Willis, 67, for decades, said he’s been “incommunicado” since his health declined.
Stallone shares touching tribute amid Willis’ heart-breaking diagnosis
In March, Willis’ family revealed that the star had been diagnosed with aphasia, which affects his cognitive function and ability to understand speech. His health also triggered his retirement from acting, which his family shared in the same post.
Aphasia is a condition that can affect a person’s ability to speak, write and understand language, with treatment including speech and language therapies, according to the Mayo Clinic.
When the actor’s diagnosis was revealed in March, Stallone shared a touching post on Instagram as he sent his love to his friends. Stallone shared a string of photos with his friend on Instagram, writing: “We go back a long way, praying for the best for you and your wonderful family.”
Stallone gives update on Bruce Willis
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter Stallone reflected on his more than five-decade-spanning career, and a big part of that was spent beside his best pal, Bruce Willis. When asked whether the two still keep in touch Stallone revealed that they could no longer communicate.
Giving an update on Willis’ condition, the First Blood actor explained how their friendship has changed since the diagnosis: “Bruce is going through some really, really difficult times. So he’s been sort of incommunicado. That kills me. It’s so sad.”
Stallone and Willis’ friendship explored
The actors met years ago and even became business partners as they were involved in the restaurant Planet Hollywood in 1991. In 2010, the men came together again to star in the action-film The Expendables, although, it nearly ruined their friendship, as per Page Six.
Stallone and Willis didn’t join forces for long as the pair’s involvement in the film supposedly sparked a rift between them. Harrison Ford was then cast to replace Willis in the film, and Stallone appeared to celebrate the news, tweeting in 2013: “WILLIS OUT…HARRISON FORD IN !!!! GREAT NEWS !!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!!”
Stallone later apologized on Twitter in 2014 and confirmed the two were now on good terms. The pair overcame their disagreement and have been good friends ever since.
Willis then credited his absence in The Expendables 3 to pursuing other creative ventures, although he will not be returning in his role as Mr. Church in the upcoming Expendables 4.
