Singing legend Shania Twain shared she was scared she would ‘fall off stage’ over the intense blackouts she would suffer due to her Lyme disease diagnosis.

The country star details her living with her condition in a new Netflix documentary called Not Just A Girl.

Shania, who was bit by a tick while horseback riding in 2003, admitted her symptoms were “quite scary” before she knew what it was.

Before being diagnoses, she would have short “millisecond blackouts” almost every 30 to 60 seconds, reports Page Six.

The singer also developed dysphonia during her ordeal which led to her losing her voice temporarily.

Shania said: “My voice was never the same again.

“I thought I’d lost my voice forever. I thought that was it, [and] I would never, ever sing again.”

The 56-year-old underwent multiple surgeries after she lost her voice. In 2019, she told Extra the invasive surgeries were “really, really, really tough” but she “survived” them emotionally.

Shania faced her divorce while battling Lyme disease at the time.

The Canadian native also claimed her husband Robert Lange, who she wed 15 years prior, had cheated on her. Twain alleged the affair was with her friend and personal assistant Marie-Anne Thiebaud, writes US weekly.

The singer had first made the allegation in her 2011 memoir called From This Moment On. She alleged: “For the first week after finding out about the affair, I was ready to die.”

At the time, Lange and Marie-Anne denied the allegations, but continued in their relationship.

The singer opens up in the documentary: “In that search to determine what was causing this lack of control with my voice and this change in my voice, I was facing a divorce. My husband leaves me for another woman.”

She confessed to being at a “whole other low” and even considered giving up music completely.

However, she was able to move on and find her voice and love again. Although, it was from an unexpected place.

Marie-Anne’s ex-husband, Frédéric, bonded with the superstar over their shared experience of their marriage break ups and ended up falling in love.

They tied the knot in 2011.

Not Just a Girl is available for viewers on Netflix now.
