Gomez rocked up to the ceremony fashionably late, wearing a dreamy, white, beaded halter gown paired with emerald green colors accents in the form of bold tassel earrings and a matching manicure.
However, the stunning ensemble left Selena fans in stitches after Gomez’s dress lining went off-script.
While some think the lining looks bunched and others wonder why the artist wasn’t informed before going on stage, one thing is for sure – the rogue dress lining is causing Twitter to unravel today.

The artist is no stranger to wardrobe malfunctions, but this one has fans coming apart at the seams.
As she climbed the stage with Only Murders costars Martin Short and Steve Martin at the Emmys last night, fans noticed something seemed awry about Selena Gomez’s dress lining.
The white beaded gown seemed oddly sheer in places where it shouldn’t have been (and indeed had not been earlier that night). What’s more, Gomez seemed wholly unaware of the dress mishap, giving fans watching at home a double dose of anxiety.
This culminated as Gomez took the stage with her OMITB costars to present the award for variety talk series, accidentally showing the full extent of her dress malfunction.
A majority of tweets seemed to agree something was up with Gomez’s dress – either the lining had somehow been bunched up as she sat in the audience or maybe it got caught in the rush of a last-minute trip to the restroom.
Looking at photos from earlier that night, it seems the gown’s lining was intended to reach down to Gomez’s calves rather than sloping randomly down from her lower back. What’s more, some images appear to chronicle the rogue lining’s journey from red-carpet-ready to all bunched up.

Fans are upset no one told her
The overwhelming majority of tweets from Selena fans seem upset that no one told her about her dress lining acting up.
“I’m mad no one told Selena Gomez that her dress was bunched up prior to taking the Emmy stage,” one fan tweeted. “Like aren’t there people for that?”
Usually, it’s the celebs themselves who fix their own wardrobe malfunctions, some more gracefully than others. Earlier this year, when she took an unfortunate tumble at the SAG Awards due to her sky-high Louboutins, Gomez took the dress mishap in stride and later showed up on stage barefoot.
This time, however, it looks like Gomez didn’t catch the dress lining mishap in time to figure out a fix. She handled it gracefully as ever nonetheless, whether she was aware of it or not.
