John Barlow: Theatre career

Barlow/Hartman Public Relations was founded by John Barlow and Michael Hartman on 14 June 1999.

Some of the notable Broadway shows that the firm represented over the years include “Billy Elliot,” “In the Heights,” “The Producers,” and “Wicked.” They also had classics under their belt such as “West Side Story” and “Guys and Dolls.”

On 28 April 2009, the company announced that they would cease operation that very year, on 14 June. This was just ten years after they were founded.

The split was amicable and was to reflect both partner’s evolving interests. Michael Hartman went on to form The Hartman Group, an entertainment media relations agency. John Barlow reportedly had plans to form an entertainment consultancy group at the time.
