Who does Sam Richardson play in Ted Lasso?
Season 2, episode 11 of Ted Lasso dropped on Apple TV+ today (Friday, 1 October). In the latest episode, Sam Richardson joins the cast to play the role of Edwin Akufo, a Ghanaian billionaire.
Akufo, who is also a football enthusiast, is interested in AFC Richmond footballer Sam Obisanya, and it is revealed he wants to buy Obisanya’s contract.
Later in the episode we learn the billionaire hopes Obisanya will join a new team based in Africa he has created made up of players from around the world.

Following the drop of Ted Lasso season two’s penultimate episode, fans of the comedy-drama have taken to social media as they react to Sam Richardson’s appearance:
Toheeb Jimoh, who plays Sam Obisanya on the series, also tweeted about Richardson as he admitted they had a laugh together while working on the set.
Jimoh gushed: “Episode 11 of #TedLasso is out now! Meet Edwin played by the BRILLIANT @SamRichardson!! I’ve never laughed more between takes (and during takes).”

What else has Sam Richardson been in?
Sam Richardson will be familiar for his role in political sitcom Veep, which aired from 2014 to 2019, in which he played the character Richard Splett. Richardson and the show’s cast won a Screen Actors Guild award in 2018 for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series.
Other shows the actor has appeared in include Detroiters, We’re The Millers and New Girl. He also lent his voice to animated shows Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K, Q-Force and BoJack Horseman.
