Rapper Antywon Dillard, aka BFG Straap was reported dead at the age of 22 in the aftermath of a South Dallas shooting which claimed two lives.

The young artist has released several albums, singles, and EPs, and has over 17 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify.

A video of the tragic shooting has gone viral on Twitter after a music news social media page uploaded it.

The police are still looking for more information on the shooting that led to BFG Straap’s death and anyone with knowledge of the event has been urged to get in contact.

BFG Straap dead in South Dallas shooting

On September 23rd, news broke that BFG Straap was dead after having been involved in a shooting in South Dallas.

CBS reported that the shooting occurred in the 2800 block of Casey St. on Thursday evening. BFG Straap, real name Antywon Dillard, was taken to the hospital following the shooting where he died from gunshot wounds.

The second victim in the shooting, 26-year-old Cory Media Lucien, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A video of the aftermath of the shooting where police have surrounded the area has been shared on Twitter by HipHop news outlet Daily Loud. The video can be watched here, but be aware it contains distressing images.

The Dallas Police Department urges anyone with information relating to this investigation to contact Homicide Detective Kim Mayfield at 214-671-3646 or by email at [email protected] and to refer to case number 172681-2022.

Tributes pour in after BFG Straap’s death

After news of BFG Straap’s death broke, tributes to the Dallas rapper began to pour in on Twitter, with fans, friends, and others in the music industry sharing their thoughts on the tragic announcement.

One fan said: “Rest In Peace BFG Straap and my condolences to his family and friends. Another Black man with so much potential gone!”

“BROOO BFG STRAAP DEAD?! Nahhh say sike right now,” another posted.

Another fan tweeted: “#bfgstraap long live you baby boy the city hurt.”

Fellow artists also shared tributes to BFG Strapp. Asian Da Brat said: “THIS WORLD IS HELL ON EARTH MAN RIP BFG STRAAP life will never be the same after today.”

BFG Straap’s career explored

BFG Straap is a rapper and songwriter from Dallas, Texas. He was born while his mother was in prison and has experienced “a lifetime of hardship, heartache, and various ups and downs” according to his website.

In July 2019, the rapper released STRAAP A MANIAC which featured singles Las Vegas, Surgery, and Focus. The following year, he released STRAAP’S R US. He has since released albums Straap 4 President, BIGGEST FLAG, BABY WIZARD, and 11:11.

His website states that BFG Straap has assumed his position “within the industry as a young upcoming artist who blends charismatic writing skills and street artistry to create a unique yet current Urban and Southern Hip Hop Sound.”

Manager mourns young Dallas rapper’s death

LD The Manager, BFG Straap’s manager, informed fans of his death on her social media page.

LD shared a picture of the young artist on Instagram which she captioned: “My heart in a million pieces right now!”

She re-shared several tributes to the rapper on her stories, and posted a message to her followers which read: “If I don’t respond y’all know that’s not like me but I will tho I’m just hurting too bad right now.”
