Billionaire business magnate Rakesh Jhunjhunwala has passed away in Mumbai, India, at the age of 62.
Known as the “Big Bull,” Jhunjhunwala built his empire to become one of the richest men in India worth more than $5 billion. He is often referred to as “India’s Warren Buffet.”

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala has three children: Nishtha, Aryaman, and Aryaveer. His daugher Nishtha is the eldest, born on June 30, 2004, making her 18 years old. Aryaman and Aryaveer are twin sons and were born on March 2, 2009, making them 13 years old.
As Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was born on July 5, 1960, he would have been 44 when his first child was born. Jhunjhunwala would’ve been 49 when his twin sons were born.
In an interview, the stock trader told Bollywood Shaadis: “I don’t know how you describe a family man. But I can tell you one thing, nothing is more important to me than my children and there is no woman I can ever love in my life other than Rekha Jhunjhunwala [his wife], come what may.”
The family are based in Mumbai. Although Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was born in Hyderabad, he was raised in Mumbai, then known as Bombay. The family name, Jhunjhunwala, indicates the family’s ancestry hails to Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was married to Rekha Jhunjunwala. The couple reportedly wed in 1987. This means Rakesh would have been around 27 at the time of his marriage to Rekha. Rekha’s age is unknown.
Just like her late husband, Rekha Jhunjhunwala found success working in stock trading and investments. RARE Enterprises is one of Rakesh’s greatest achievements. The company is named after his and his wife’s names conjoined – RAkesh and REkha.
This month has seen Rekha’s investments turn significant profit. Metro Brands shares hit an all-time high after they zoomed 15 per cent to Rs735 ($9.35/ £7.74), as reported by Business Standard. Rekha is one of the largest individual shareholders in Metro Brands, with holdings of 4.8 per cent at the end of June 2022.
Rakesh Jhunjhunwala survived by wife and three kids
Rakesh Jhunjhunwala is survived by Rekha and their three children. He died on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
The Economic Times reports that while Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was suffering from kidney failure, he died of a cardiac arrest. The publication reports Jhunjhunwala suffered multiple organ failure at his death, while he was also diabetic and recently underwent an angioplasty.

As news of Rakesh Jhunjhunwala’s death broke, a number of high-profile figures offered condolences and shared memories of the late business magnate.
Prime minister Narendra Modi led the tributes: “Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was indomitable. Full of life, witty and insightful, he leaves behind an indelible contribution to the financial world. He was also very passionate about India’s progress. His passing away is saddening. My condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
Deepak Shenoy tweeted: “RIP Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. A trader, investor and legend that inspired many. He played the short and long side, and made his peace with the market. He will be remembered fondly. Condolences to his family.”
