Politico’s Eugene Daniels and partner Nate got engaged twice
The White House correspondent and his partner Nate Stephens announced they were engaged in June 2021.
Daniels shared the happy news in a post to his 8,580 followers on Instagram as he posted a picture of him alongside Nate flashing his engagement ring.
Taking to the caption, he gushed: “I’ve never loved a human more. And I will choose you every day for the rest of my life. (I said hell yes.)”
Six months after the engagement news, Daniels revealed he had “counter-proposed” to Nate as he announced their second engagement.
While sharing a snap of their matching engagement rings in a post on Instagram, he explained he had popped the question during a camping trip.

They have been together for five years
In June, the Morning Joe Senior Contributor celebrated his and his Nate’s fifth anniversary together. Nate made his debut on Eugene’s feed in October 2017.
While sharing a series of sweet snaps from their relationship on Instagram (see below), he described their five years together as full of “laughing, dancing, debating, traveling and loving.”
Looking forward to their future together, Daniels wrote in the caption: “To many more. You make my life immeasurably better. Happy anniversary, love.”
Meet White House correspondent’s fiancé Nate
Nate often features on his fiancé’s Instagram but he prefers to keep his own page to himself. Despite Daniels having previously tagged him in posts, Nate’s own account is listed as private.
While his IG is restricted, Nate does appear to be on Twitter. In 2018 he shared his support for his journalist other half as he celebrated his then-new role at Politico:
In POLITICO’s Playbook in June 2021, Nate was listed as working as a social change facilitator and hailing from South Dakota.
