Fans want it to be Piers Morgan, but it’s not. Pigeon Lady, from Home Alone 2, is portrayed by Irish actress Brenda Fricker.

All it took was a tweet

Twitter users have pointed out the “uncanny” resemblance. Piers Morgan has denied making a secret cameo in Home Alone 2 as the Pigeon Lady.

According to the Independent, Piers’s son, Spencer Morgan, first tweeted about the resemblance. He wrote: “Chilled night watching Home Alone 2. Always forget you’re in it @piersmorgan.”

The rumour has gained traction in recent days, however.

Co-host Susanna Reid brought the Twitter furore to Piers Morgan’s attention during an episode of Good Morning Britain.

Piers replied: “Why does this keep coming around? That is not me. I am not the bag lady in Home Alone 2.”

So, who is then?

The real Pigeon Lady from Home Alone 2: Meet Brenda Fricker

Born in 1945 in Dublin, Ireland, Brenda Fricker acted on the screen from 1964 to 2013. Before that, she gained experience in Irish theatre with several prestigious theatre companies. In total, her acting career spans six decades.

Fricker’s performance in Jim Sheridan’s 1989 film My Left Foot earned critical acclaim. She won an Oscar for best supporting performance, while Daniel Day-Lewis took the Academy Award for Best Actor.

In her acceptance speech she thanked Christy Brown, on whom the film’s narrative is based, “just for being alive”. She dedicated the Oscar to Christy’s mother.

Brenda Fricker joined the cast of Home Alone 2: Lost In New York and played the Pigeon Lady (other names include Bird Lady and Bag Lady).

In 1996, Fricker was one of 12 Irish actors to be featured on Irish postal stamps. She appeared alongside Daniel Day-Lewis from My Left Foot, and other notable actors from The Commitments, The Field and Man Of Aran.
