What is the meaning of “peasant salad”? Tahiry Jose came across the term at a restaurant in the Dominican Republic which left her, and fans, stumped.
Tahiry Jose, 41, rose to public prominence starring in VH1’s Love and Hip Hop. She joined the show in the midst of her on-again off-again relationship with Joe Budden.
What did Tahiry Jose say about “peasant salad”?
Tahiry Jose has recently vacationed in the Dominican Republic, where her parents are from.
During this trip, Jose stayed at a resort. When dining at the resort’s restaurant, she noticed “peasant salad” on the menu.
In the video, Tahiry Jose ranted:
“So do you think I want to eat her? Do you even think that I want to stay here? I had a whole moment that at 2021, you still come out.. I mean s***, racism is so alive, and we know this. But we work so hard to come to like a place, to an establishment, to a f***ing resort to f***ing eat a peasant salad.”
Some thought Tahiry didn’t read the menu correctly and that it was really a “pheasant salad.” However, there is a specific type of salad called a “peasant salad,” so Tahiry Jose wasn’t making up the menu.
