Who is Miss France at Miss Universe 2021?

Clémence Botino represented France in Miss Universe 2021, the 70th edition of the annual beauty pageant, which was presented by Steve Harvey.

The competition was held in Israel and resulted in Harnaaz Sandhu, Miss Universe India, taking the crown on 12 December (13 December 12am GMT).

Born on 22 January 1997 in Baie-Mahault, Guadeloupe, the French model and beauty pageant titleholder is 24 years old.

For her national costume at the competition, Botino paid tribute to American-born French legend Josephine Baker, who was an entertainer, French resistance agent and civil rights activist as well as the first black woman to star in a major motion picture.

Miss Universe France 2021 graduated from Sorbonne University (DNM) with a master 1 in history of art in 2018.

Fans believe French favourite was snubbed from top five

While France’s Clémence Botino managed to secure a spot in the top ten at Miss Universe 2021, she failed to make the final five.

With India taking first place as the 70th Miss Universe winner, Miss South Africa, Lalela Lali Mswane, became the first runner up with Miss Paraguay, Nadia Ferreira, the second runner up.

Some fans of Miss Universe France were disappointed by the top five results, which saw Columbia’s Valeria Maria Ayos Bossa at number four and Philippines’ Beatrice Luigi Gomez fifth.

Clémence Botino was placed eighth and, although this was seen by some as a fantastic achievement, other viewers were unhappy with the result.

Some viewers even took to Twitter to express their emotions, with some suggesting Miss France should have made it into the top five.

Who was crowned Miss France 2022?
