Bulgarian actress and singer Lorina Kamburova, whose career was in its crescendo, was pronounced dead of pneumonia in Moscow, Russia on 26 May. Her talent agency, London-based Core MGMT, described her as an “incredible young talent”. Lorina Kamburova’s acting credits included The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Leatherface, but she also had a musical career. What other films was she in?

Who is Lorina Kamburova? How did she die?

Aged just 29, Lorina Kamburova went into hospital with a diagnosis of bilateral pneumonia.

Shortly afterwards, her friend, photographer Gennady Avramenko, reported her death on Facebook, according to Russian website Smotrim.

He wrote, “Today we got the terrible news: our Lorina didn’t make it out” (translated by Google).

You might remember Lorina Kamburova from Leatherface

Kamburova’s acting career was on the up. 

Her most recent feature film credits include 2020’s Love and Monsters, by Ekaterina Krasner, who also directed The Changeling and, before that, The Taste.

She also portrayed Dr Sandy Peterson in Doom: Annihilation (2019) and Abby in Day of the Dead: Bloodline (2017).

But Lorina Kamburova was perhaps most famous for the role of Betty Hartman in the American horror film Leatherface (2017).

How old was she?

Born in Sofia, Bulgaria on 25 October 1991, Lorina Kamburova was just 29 years old when she died. 

The cause of death was bilateral pneumonia, for which she went into hospital shortly before she died.

Lorina also had a musical career

Besides her acting career, Kamburova was a vocalist in the group Ross’N Lorina.

Ross’N Lorina’s Facebook page recently shared a news story confirming her death, which has accrued dozens of comments containing tributes and well wishes to the late actress and singer.
