Lil Nas is known for his outlandish outfits, whether that’s neon pink cowboy chaps or a full lilac dress complete with long flowing wig. Last night at the Met Gala Lil Nas X was serving us full Star Wars robot realness. The Industry Baby singer treated us to a plethora of incredible looks, however, all fans could see was Lil Nas as C3PO from Star Wars. We take a look at the fan reaction to these Met Gala outfits.
What did Lil Nas X wear to the Met Gala?
All hail king Lil Nas! The Montero singer turned it up with three full custom Versace outfits. Making a statement is part of Lil Nas’ DNA, and first up was a satin regal gown that would not have been out of place at the 2018 Met Gala Catholic Imagination.

However, this outer layer was soon shed to reveal a full suit of gold armour. This continued the regal tradition with the armour reminding us of a knight of the roundtable, well, an incredibly opulent one.
Lil Nas is never one to be outdone, and in the same vein as Lady Gaga from the 2019 Met Gala, he had another trick, or reveal, up his sleeve. The Old Town Road singer removed the body armour and finally showed a full sparkling black and gold bodysuit.
Twitter erupts with C3PO memes
While many fans were enjoying the custom Versace pieces, others couldn’t help but think that one of the outfits made Lil Nas look like C3PO from Star Wars. It seems like he is trying to work on those important human-cyborg relations.

Some people also thought that Lil Nas had another doppelgänger, and that he looked similar to Orm from Aquaman.
Other notable looks from this year’s Met Gala
The 2021 Met Gala explored the theme, In America: A Lexicon Of Fashion, which looked at American culture and fashion throughout the years.
Notable looks from the night included Kim Kardashian’s all black Balenciaga ensemble.

Pete Davidson also made a touching tribute to his father and the other victims of the 9/11 attacks through his Met Gala outfit. Designed by Thomas Browne, Davidson wore a black dress and white blazer, complete with Fred Leighton jewellery specifically designed to honour his father.
Fans also fell in love with Billie Eilish’s Marilyn Monroe inspired Oscar De La Renta look. The gown was directly influenced by the tulle dress Monroe wore to attend the Oscars in 1951.
We can’t stop looking at all the fabulous Met Gala looks. May the force be with you Lil Nas!
