Lady Gaga’s egg entrance will never be forgotten by fans when she sang “Born This Way” in 2011. More than a decade later, it is safe to say that very few artists will be able to recreate anything like it again.

BTS, J Balvin, John Legend, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo are just a few of the confirmed acts that will be performing at the 2022 Grammys.

The Grammys is one of the highlights of the year for musicians around the world. Just like the Oscars for TV and film, new and seasoned artists await to see if they’ll nab a prestigious award in various categories.

Lady Gaga has proven herself to be a musician who beats to her own drum. She has given many enigmatic and powerful performances that always include breathtaking outfits.

As the world prepares for the Grammys next week, The Focus takes a look back at one of her wildest performances.

Lady Gaga looks back on her performance

Lady Gaga, real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, rarely disappoints. In true tradition, The House of Gucci star went to the extreme during her 2011 appearance at the Grammys.

In an interview with Vogue, the actress and singer reminisced on her previous iconic looks, with one particular ‘eggcellent’ outfit leaving its mark on the singer’s memory. She admitted that in the days ahead of the show, she stayed in the egg for three days, literally.

Gaga explained: “Everyone calls this the egg but it’s actually a vessel that was designed by Hussein Chalayan.”

The Bad Romance singer elaborated: “I was very particular about the way the fashion looked for this performance in so much as the night before the performance I said, ‘The fashion’s wrong, we don’t have it. We need it to be latex. We need nude latex’.”

It resulted in the designers having to buy latex from a bus company to re-do the outfits.

Indeed, Lady Gaga’s entrance at the Grammys and her performance were truly memorable. The singer was carried onto the red carpet inside the egg before she sang her song Born This Way.

To make the night even better, Gaga also scooped up three Grammy awards. But the singer also revealed how she had to mentally prepare herself for the performance.

“To be honest, at award shows, especially during this time, I didn’t like to talk to people. I always felt that it threw me off with my performance so this in a lot of ways is really representative of my devotion to my craft in that I really wanted to be with myself,” said Gaga.
