Jimmy Rave’s fiancee mourns
Jimmy has been a household name in wrestling since the start of his career in 2019. He wrestled for Ring of Honor, IMPACT, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Dragon Gate and Combat Zone Wrestling, among others.
A statement from Jimmy’s daughter Kailah and friend Bill Behrens, which confirmed his death, read: “Jimmy had been struggling with drug addiction for many years. His struggles resulted in the amputation of his arm and, later, both his legs. A cause of death has not yet been revealed, but it has been known he has struggled with his health for quite some time.”
Jimmy lost both his legs in June due to MRSA. It is unknown how the wrestler contracted this infection but it can be passed from one drug user to another through sharing needles. It is also a side effect of crystal methamphetamine, and leads to a ‘creepy-crawly sensation’ under the skin.
When announcing the news of his amputations to the public, Jimmy tweeted: “Apparently it’s time for me to come clean. This past June I began having trouble walking and went to my surgeon. He determined I had MRSA in both legs and they needed to be amputated immediately.
The wrestler also explained how he had to get his arm amputated in November 2020 as the doctors found an infection in his left arm. This led them to amputate Jimmy’s left arm above the elbow, ending his career.
James is survived by his fiancee Gabby Gilber, his ex-wife Felicia, daughter Kailah, son James II, and parents Jim and Toni Guffey.
The Focus sends our condolences to Gabby and all Jimmy’s family and friends at this difficult time.
