A story from the first lady’s memoir, Where The Light Enters, involving Jill Biden, a bikini and a sharpie, has recently resurfaced. This comes as Biden begins to step into her new role as FLOTUS, appointing Elizabeth Alexander as her Communications Director.
Jill Biden’s career
Born on 3 June 1951 and formerly known as Jill Jacobs, the First Lady is best known for her work as an educator and teacher.
Jill Biden has a bachelor’s degree and a PhD in education from the University of Delaware, which she gained in 2007. She also has two master’s degrees from West Chester University and Villanova University.
She is currently a professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College. Making history, she will be the first FLOTUS to maintain her day job while also taking on the responsibilities that come with being a presidential spouse.
During her time as first lady, Jill Biden wants to focus on promoting two years of tuition-free community college, support for military families and further funding in the fight against cancer.
What is the Jill Biden bikini sharpie story?
In her memoir, Where The Light Enters, published in 2019, Jill Biden recalls a moment where she needed to communicate with her husband, but all that was available to her was a sharpie. Advisors were trying to convince Joe Biden in 2004 that he should run against George W. Bush. However, Jill Biden felt differently about the situation:
“I was sitting at the pool in my swimsuit. My temper got the best of me. I decided I needed to contribute to this conversation. As I walked through the kitchen, a Sharpie caught my eye. I drew NO on my stomach in big letters, and marched through the room in my bikini.”
Jill and Joe Biden have been married for 43 years and it is clear that they value each other’s opinions. Jill has often been seen putting herself between Joe and protestors, and even moving him away from reporters during the coronavirus pandemic.
Tragically, Joe Biden lost his first wife and daughter in a car accident in 1972. Jill and Joe Biden have one daughter together named Ashley, and Jill took Joe’s two sons, Beau and Hunter, under her wing.
They first met through Joe’s brother and have been going strong ever since. We can’t wait to see what Jill Biden achieves as first lady of the US.
