Guy opens up about split
The 59-year-old felt she needed to address issues surrounding her divorce as she felt she “got outed” and had to explain her recovery from the financial struggles that followed.
Despite trying to keep the situation private, the actress revealed details after she claimed Duckett stopped paying child support.
TMZ reports a judge ordered Duckett to pay $1,469 per month, but Guy’s legal documents stated he hadn’t paid anything since May 2010, owing her $40,000.
At the same time, the split added to the financial burden on Guy. The Jasmine Brand reported the actress filed for bankruptcy in 2009 with a debt reported by Black America Web to be $123,503.64 plus interest, with Duckett’s part of the debt reported to be worth $94,354.71 plus interest.
On the show, Guy claimed the money was purely to provide for her daughter and, although she didn’t mind discussing such a difficult period, she had moved on.

He studied at the University of Iowa and works as chief strategy officer at OnPacePlus, a Los Angeles-based healthcare technology company. He has a net worth of $1 million, according to Famous Stardom.
Guy and Duckett tied the knot on 22 August 1998 in Boston, Massachusetts, after knowing each other for almost a decade.
The actress was catapulted to fame in 1987 thanks to her role as Whitley Gilbert-Wayne in The Cosby Show spin-off A Different World. The couple welcomed their daughter, Imani Duckett, on 28 March 1999, but split in April 2008.
