Is Kyrie Irving related to Julius Erving? People wanted to know if Dr J is part of the Brooklyn Nets star’s family. Here’s what we know.

Kyrie Irving is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets.

He was named the Rookie of the Year after being selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. Irving is a seven-time All-Star and two-time member of the All-NBA Team.

He won an NBA championship with the Cavaliers in 2016. Kyrie currently plays for the Brooklyn Nets.

Who is Kyrie Irving’s dad?

Kyrie Irving’s dad is Drederick Rubin Irving, (born January 11, 1966).

Drederick is an American former professional basketball player who played two seasons in the Australian National Basketball League (NBL). 

Irving is from New York City and attended and played basketball at Stevenson High School in The Bronx. He went on to play college basketball for Boston University.

After graduating from BU with a degree in economics, Irving was invited to join the Boston Celtics training camp roster, but didn’t secure a roster spot.

In 1992, Irving signed with the Bulleen Boomers of the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL). Irving played for the Boomers in the 1992 season, dominating the league, averaging 30 points per game.

He met his first wife, Elizabeth, at Boston University.

She died from an illness in 1996 and the couple had two children, daughter Asia and son Kyrie.

Julius Erving, commonly known by the name Dr. J, is one of the greatest and most influential basketball players of all time.

Erving won three championships, four Most Valuable Player Awards, and three scoring titles with the ABA’s Virginia Squires and New York Nets (now the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets) and the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers.

Despite the similar name, he has no relation to Kyrie.
