Demi Moore discovered her father wasn’t a blood relative

Moore’s 2019 memoir, Inside Out, revealed she had a troubled childhood, from losing her front teeth to being estranged from her alcoholic parents.

The Guardian reports her mother was just 19 when she had Demi, while her real father left before she was born. Aged 15, Demi found out the man she thought was her biological father, Danny Guynes, wasn’t her blood relative. Instead, her father was a drug addict named Charles Harman.

According to The New York Times, Moore found out the truth about her biological father when Guynes separated from her mother, Virginia King. Moore later told The Guardian: ”There were many insecurities and doubts, but I know they made the best choices they could. They thought they were doing the right thing.”

Moore’s mother passed away in 1998 from cancer, while Guynes took his life when she was 17 years old.

Demi Moore’s fractured relationship with her mother

In her memoir, Moore reveals when she was 12 years old she saved her mother’s life following a pill overdose. Moore recalls: “The next thing I remember is using my fingers, the small fingers of a child, to dig the pills my mother had tried to swallow out of her mouth while my father held it open and told me what to do.”

Moore admits this experience made her grow up quickly: “Something very deep inside me shifted then, and it never shifted back. My childhood was over.” Moore told Dianne Sawyer her mother made “many, many” more attempts to take her life.

Moore also revealed she was assaulted by an older man inside the apartment she shared with her mother. The man justified his actions by claiming Moore’s mother had sold her to him.

When asked by Sawyer whether she believed her mother sold her, Demi admitted: “I think, deep in my heart, no. I don’t think it was a straightforward transaction. But she still did give him the access, and put me in harm’s way.”

In 2012, the actress launched Thorn, a non-profit organization that helps police to identify child victims.

Demi lost front teeth due to stress

While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actress revealed she has struggled with mental health in the past and even lost her front teeth due to stress.

Moore shared a photo of herself smiling with a missing tooth before confessing: “I literally knocked it out. It was almost like it fell out and my warranty was up. Thank God for modern dentistry.”

Demi explained: “I sheared off my front teeth. And I’d love to say it was skateboarding or something really cool, but I think it’s really something that’s important to share because I think it’s literally, probably after heart disease, one of the biggest killers in America, which is stress.”

Demi has been married three times

The General Hospital alum has been married three times. She was married to Freddy Moore from 1981 to 1985 and to Bruce Willis from 1987 to 2000. Moore and Willis share daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah, and have remained amicable co-parents, even spending time together throughout lock-down.

Moore and fellow actor Ashton Kutcher began dating in 2003 and tied the knot two years later. They called it quits in 2011 after six years of marriage.

“He was 25. I was 40,” Moore recalled in Inside Out. “But I’m telling you: we couldn’t feel it. We were totally in sync from our very first conversation.”

Demi Moore created iconic Ghost scene

Moore’s iconic pottery scene in Ghost is the scene everyone remembers when they think of the 1990 hit film. The movie starred Moore as artist Molly and Patrick Swayze as banker boyfriend Sam, who dies but finds a way to communicate with Molly from beyond the grave.

The pottery scene takes place early in the film, before his death, and has become one of the most popular love scenes in film history.

In the scene, Moore’s character Molly originally threw the glass jar against a wall. However, Moore felt a subtler way to approach the scene was for Molly to roll it down the stairs instead.
