How old was Big Meech when he went to jail?
In an interview with Cavario from his jail cell in 2019, Big Meech explained he was 37 when he was picked up by police and 39 when he went to jail.
He said: “I mean I was 37 years old when I got picked up so I was slowing down anyway cause I was getting kind of tired but when you’re the face of the family that’s the one thing… I’m doing everything to try to make this family successful.”
Big Meech is now 53 and was sentenced in 2007 meaning he went to jail when he was 39 years old. The brothers reportedly pleaded guilty after incriminating evidence was presented at the trial. Pleading guilty to running a criminal enterprise meant they were sentenced to 30 years in prison.
When will Big Meech get out of jail?
Both brothers requested to be released from jail when the covid-19 pandemic struck. Terry’s plea was accepted but Meech’s was rejected.
Terry was released from federal prison in May 2020 and is serving the rest of his time under house arrest.
In May 2020, Big Meech asked to leave prison 11 years early. His request was rejected but he appealed the decision. However, the appeal was also turned down, the Detroit News reported.
Demetrius, aka Meech, is serving his sentence at Federal Correctional Institution, Sheridan in Oregon and was originally scheduled for release on 5 May 2032, just before his 64th birthday on 21 June.
However, he is now due for release in 2028 after the United States Sentencing Guidelines made amendments 782 and 788 to revise all drug offences that took place before late 2014.
