A HBO Max docuseries about Gwen Shamblin and her family has sparked interest in her daughter Elizabeth Shamblin Hannah. Many are curious what she is up to following her role in the documentary.
The series is titled ‘The Way Down God, Greed, and the Cult of Gwen Shamblin.’ This will follow the lives of the Shamblin family and their involvement in the Remnant Fellowship Church.

Who is Gwen Shamblin’s daughter
Gwen Shamblin Lara has two children with her first husband David Shamblin. They share a son called Michael Shamblin and a daughter called Elizabeth Hannah.
Elizabeth and Michael are high up within the church, as Elizabeth leads the Remnant Fellowship youth group. Michael helps to lead worship services and music performances for the church.
Elizabeth wrote on the Remnant website that she and Brandon Shannon were married in 2003.
They have four children called, Grace, Gweneth, Gloria, and Charles Grantham. She also had a fifth child, but he died in his sleep at only five months old.
She shares her children with her late husband Brandon before he tragically died in the same plane crash that killed her mother.

The Shamblin family saga
Gwen Shamblin Lara was the woman behind the Weigh Down Workshop which later became the Remnant Fellowship Church. The diet guru founded the Fellowship Church, based in Tennessee, in 1999
Shamblin was married to David Shamblin from 1978 until 2018. She then got married to Joe Lara in 2018 until 29 May 2021 when they died in a plane crash.
The small plane had seven people on board and was headed for Palm Beach International Airport in Florida.
Elizabeth Hannah reportedly sent out a text message to Remnant church members asking for prayers following the crash.
She said that the plane had to go down “for a controlled, quick landing,” according to the outlet.
“More information to come, but be in prayer – and be at peace,” Hannah’s message continues.
“GOD IS IN CONTROL, and we will not stop moving forward with WHAT GOD WANTS with this church.”

The Way Down: God, Greed, and the Cult of Gwen Shamblin follows the Shamblin family in a completely gripping way. From the inception of her Weigh Down Workshops in the 1980s. The diet plans convinced women that however much they weighed correlated to their faith in Christianity.
Marina Zenovich’s five-episode docuseries seeks to expose the family and uncover truths like never before.
The first three episodes of The Way Down are available now, 30 September 2021, on HBO Max. The final two episodes are set to premiere in early 2022.
