ITV Channel Islands broadcaster and journalist Gary Burgess has died aged 46 after a long battle with cancer. As per ITV, Burgess died on New Years Day at a Jersey hospice, having been diagnosed with terminal cancer late last year.
As news of his passing is announced, Gary Burgess’ husband Alan has released his own statement in tribute to the broadcaster, with some now curious to know more about their relationship.

Alan Burgess pays tribute to husband
It was announced on Sunday, 2 January, that ITV journalist and broadcaster Gary Burgess had died on New Years Day following a long documented battle with cancer.
While he became a familiar face as a broadcaster across the Channel Islands, he was born in Manchester, having had his start in journalism at Blackpool radio station, Radio Wave. His career spanned more than 30 years, during which he worked a number of different roles before joining ITV Channel TV in 2011.
His husband, Alan, has since paid tribute to Burgess in a statement as he thanked those involved in Burgess’ treatments over the years as well as the support from family and friends as well as those who knew him throughout his career in journalism.
Concluding the statement, Alan referenced a line from one of Gary’s favourite programmes, The West Wing, as he said: “You did a lot of good, Gary. A lot of good.”

Who is Gary Burgess’ husband Alan?
Gary Burgess was married to his husband Alan, who he lived with in Jersey, Chanel Islands.
The two are said to have first crossed paths in 2014 and later become civil partners after they held a ceremony in March 2018.
Following a change in Jersey’s laws, they finally became husband and husband later that year in July as they were the first couple to convert their civil partnership into a marriage.
