Comedian and actor Gilbert Gottfried, best known for voicing Iago in Aladdin has passed away aged 67. Fans have been sending their condolences to Gottfried’s family and also his friend and co-worker, Frank Santopadre.
The pair have shared a close bond in the public eye seen by fans through their podcast, Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast.

Who is Frank Santopadre?
Born in New York, Frank Santopadre is an Emmy-award winning television writer for award shows, roasts and talk shows including The View.
Santopadre is also known for his comedy material which he has written for celebrities including Bill Murray, Howard Stern and Meryl Streep.
Also a podcaster, Santopadre and Gottfried co-hosted Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast which has over 600 episodes.
Frank and Gilbert’s friendship
Although Gottfried and Santopadre were known as co-workers, they were also friends, with a friendship that spanned across decades.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Gottfried revealed that he first met Santopadre who was a writer for Caroline’s Comedy Hour when he made a guest appearance in the 1990s.
Following Gottfried’s passing, according to Newsweek, Santopadre said in a statement, “Those who loved him and were fortunate enough to share his orbit knew a person who was sweet, sensitive, surprisingly shy and filled with a childlike sense of playfulness and wonder.”
“He’ll be dearly missed by family, friends, fans and comedy lovers the world over.”

Following Gottfried’s passing, there has not yet been any statement regarding the future of Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast.
