Italian rapper Fedez has opened up about a recent diagnosis and told fans he’s about to start treatment for an undisclosed medical issue.
His wife, Chiara Ferragni, also shared a heartfelt post with followers in support of Fedez as fans shared their support for the rapper on social media.
Fedez shared in 2019 he had found a scar that could signify he’s at risk of multiple sclerosis. The Millie rapper referred to the scarring as demyelination.
Even though the medical issue the rapper is suffering has yet to be confirmed, fans want to know more about demyelination and what treatment might entail.
Italian rapper Fedez announces medical issues
Fedez, real name Federico Leonardo Lucia, is best known for 2021 album Disumano. The top song from the album, Millie, has almost 80 million streams on Spotify.
During an emotional announcement to his 13.5 million fans on Instagram, the rapper announced he had been diagnosed with an illness, adding that treatment for it would begin shortly.
The rapper tried to put fans at ease by sharing the medical problem had been diagnosed early and he was hopeful all would be ok.
Fedez said he would focus on his family, including children Leone and Vittoria, but would keep fans updated as soon as he could share information.

Fedez fans want to know more about demyelination
While the rapper didn’t mention what he was suffering from, he previously shared with fans he had found a small white scar that meant he could be at higher risk of multiple sclerosis. Fedez further shared this was a form of ‘demyelination’.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that can affect the brain and spinal cord. It can cause issues with vision, movement and sensation. Some cases are mild with treatable symptoms but for many MS is a serious condition that can cause lifelong disability.
Celebrities such as Selma Blair and Christina Applegate have recently opened up about their experiences with the condition.
A demyelinating disorder covers a range of conditions that damage myelin in the body. Myelin is a protective layer, or sheath, that covers the nerves in your body, including those in the brain and spinal cord.
When this layer is damaged, scar tissue can form in its place, which means brain signals can’t move across this damaged tissue as quickly as normal. Demyelination basically means your nerves don’t work as well as they should.
Demyelination can lead to disorders such as MS, transverse myelitis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, and optic neuritis. Symptoms can include vision loss, muscle weakness and spams, changes in bladder and bowel habits, and sensory changes.

Chiara Ferragni shares message of support for husband in wake of demyelination diagnosis fears
Chiara Ferragni is an Italian blogger, businesswomen, fashion designer and model. She has been married to Fedez since 2018 and they have been together since 2016.
The model took to her Instagram to call on fans to share “extra support” for her husband at this difficult time.
