Much-loved meteorologist Doug Hill has sadly passed away aged 71 at his home in North Carolina and mourning viewers want to know more about his wife and children.

After spending more than 17 years at Washington DC’s WJLA and 15 years on WTOP as chief meteorologist, to say Doug Hill made an impact in his profession is a massive understatement.

He was known as the best of the best and for having one of the most familiar and popular faces on TV.

“I grew up watching Doug, my favourite weatherman, my heart is breaking,” says a fan on Facebook.

During his career, Doug was awarded the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval, while he was also honoured with a Washington Emmy Award for broadcast excellence.

The 71-year-old retired to North Carolina with his wife in 2017.
