Name That Tune viewers surprised by Jackson’s appearance

With Randy Jackson’s changed appearance on full display, Name That Tune viewers took to social media to share their thoughts. One viewer tweeted: “Have to say how fabulous Randy Jackson looks.”

Others were more concerned for Jackson’s wellbeing. One viewer tweeted: “Is Randy Jackson alright? He doesn’t look well.”

Did Randy Jackson have weight loss surgery?

Yes. Randy Jackson has been open about undergoing weight loss surgery back in 2003. Jackson decided to undergo gastric bypass surgery after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

Jackson’s initial surgery was a success, helping him lose 100 pounds. But the weight then came back, per Prevention’s report, which led to Jackson making major lifestyle changes.

In his book Body With Soul, Randy Jackson called his diabetes diagnosis “both a blessing and a curse.” Today published an extract from the book, where Jackson explains: “It’s a curse to be saddled with a disease that’s life-threatening and that you can’t completely get rid of (though you can certainly manage it). But it’s a blessing to get that huge wake-up call.”

Exploring Randy Jackson’s health and lifestyle changes

While Randy Jackson did undergo weight loss surgery to help combat his diabetes diagnosis, the Grammy Award-winning producer also implemented lifestyle changes through diet and exercise.

In 2008, Jackson shared his top tips for getting into a healthy lifestyle with WebMD. Some of the swaps made by Jackson include trading in chocolate for a slightly healthier frozen yoghurt or protein shake, to satisfy his sweet tooth. Jackson also utilises a treadmill and even opts for yoga as an exercise of choice.

In February 2021, Randy Jackson appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (hosted that week by actress Tiffany Haddish) to talk about his food journey. In the interview, Jackson reveals that he previously was an emotional eater. “I had to get it down man,” he said of his weight. “I had a food divorce is what I usually say. I had to let it all go and start over.”

So, there’s no need to worry about Randy Jackson’s health in 2022. The musician and television personality remains on top of his fitness and is keeping type 2 diabetes at bay.
