After Dick began reporting from the sidelines once more during a break in his chemotherapy, the announcer took to Twitter to thank fans and those around him for their support.
In the tweet, Dick Vitale mentioned his wife, Lorraine, with fans now curious to know more about her and their relationship.

Who is Dick Vitale’s wife?
Dick Vitale is married to Lorraine McGrath, although the announcer’s other half seems to like life out of the spotlight – not much is known of her online.
However, Dick often features Lorraine on his social media and she can be seen alongside the announcer in his profile image on Twitter.
Lorraine is also credited as the one who encouraged Dick to join ESPN, a role he has excelled in for more than four decades.

How long have they been together?
The couple tied the knot in 1971, having first crossed paths two years before at the Blue Swan Inn in Rochelle, New Jersey. As reported by The New York Post, Lorraine caught the announcer’s eye as she walked in and Dick immediately walked over and asked her to dance – she refused.
Dick was with friends at the time and they began betting Lorraine wouldn’t change her mind. Dick must have won the bet because the couple have been together since then – for five decades.
They celebrated 50 years together in May and Dick shared a sweet tribute to his wife on Instagram. He wrote: “Yes, I have been blessed to have a beautiful, loving wife like Lorraine for 50 years and a fantastic caring family. It is so great to have, especially when facing tough times.”
