Charlbi Dean Kriek has died aged 32 at a New York City hospital after a “sudden illness”, as fans mourn the star – who is her fiancé, Luke Volker?

Variety calls the illness that led to Charlbi’s death on Monday “unexpected.”

She was only 32 years old when she died. She made her acting debut in the South African film Spud in 2010, age 20.

Since news of Charlbi Dean’s death emerged, Luke Volker’s Instagram post had been inundated with well-wishes and words of condolence from fans of his and his fiancée’s.

Who is Charlbi Dean Kriek’s fiancé Luke Volker?

Charlbi Dean and Luke Volker started dating around June 2018. Volker celebrated their three-year anniversary on June 18, 2021, which would make this summer four years since they were official.

He’s a South African model like his late fiancée. In 2018, he featured in the Parke & Ronen S/S 19 Men’s Show, according to his profile on Models.com.

And in May 2019, Sara featured him in its spring Lookbook catalog. James Brodribb photographed him. 

The model agency that represents him in New York is IMG, while VISION has signed him in Los Angeles. In Barcelona, Sight Management Studio represents Luke Volker, and Clear Models Management represents him in Madrid.

Luke Volker and Charlbi Dean were together during the first COVID-19 lockdown. 

They appear to have hunkered down in their native South Africa, specifically Cape Town, according to Volker’s Instagram uploads from that period. Their relationship appears to have begun in the summer of 2018, per his social media

His most recent Instagram post pays tribute to Charlbi Dean before her death, celebrating that “against all odds, almost impossible obstacles, they pulled it off.” 

“It” in this context refers to Charlbi’s latest movie, Triangle Of Sadness, a satirical dark comedy film written and directed by Swedish auteur Ruben Östlund. It is his first English-language film.

Where is Luke Volker based?

Per Models.com, he’s based in New York. He recently appeared in Jo DiNozzi and Darien DeMaria’s production A Sketch Of New York.

However, he also appears to have spent time in various places in California during the last two years, as well as Cape Town, South Africa.

He has an IMDB profile, but doesn’t yet have any screen credits to populate it. His fiancé Charlbi, meanwhile, earned 11 acting credits before her death on Monday, August 29, 2022.

Luke Volker’s age, at time of writing, is 26. He celebrates his birthday on January 15, his height is 6ft 2in, and he has just under 44K followers on his Luke Chase Volker Instagram account.

What do we know about the circumstances surrounding the death of Charlbi Dean Kriek?

Variety confirmed the death of Charlbi Dean on August 30, 2022; she died a day earlier, on Monday, August 29, age 32.

She began modeling at the age of six and signed with Alfa Model Management at 12, the outlet adds. A representative for the South African actor and model told TMZ she passed away from an “unexpected sudden illness.”

She died in a hospital in New York City, although no further details have yet emerged.

Charlbi Dean and her fiancé Luke Volker appear to have become engaged in February 2022 – he posted on Instagram on February 7, adding that it was his “last day as a bachelor.”
