Tributes follow news of the death of film and television producer Carl Craig
Actor and writer Robert Townsend paid tribute to the late producer Carl Craig earlier today, describing him as one of his oldest friends.
He also sent prayers to Craig’s wife, daughters and family.
Film-maker Blaak Richardson wrote that Carl Craig was a “big part of my early career in the US”, an “absolute character”, and a “mainstay of Black Hollywood”.
Tributes came from elsewhere, too: from mentee Johanie Taylor, Rob Morrow, and collaborator King David.

More than one website mentions covid-19 as a possible cause but, without confirmation from the family, it remains unclear. It is also worth noting that several articles purporting to be about the death of Carl Craig the producer actually conflate the identities of him and the Detroit musician.
Primarily as a producer – but also as an actor and writer – Craig has been ever busy since the mid to late 1980s. His longest hiatus between projects has been just four years.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
