Up-and-coming actor and writer Breck Denny has died. His friend, fellow actor Chris Reed, posted on Twitter that he wishes everyone could have met him, while numerous others mourned the NYU graduate and sketch comedian on Instagram.

Who was Breck Denny?

Breck Denny earned his BA in creative writing from New York University (NYU) and later joined Sunday Company, a comedy collective.

He’s from New York, NY and Cleveland, OH. Per his bio on the Groundlings website, LA Weekly once featured his sketch comedy as the comedy pick of the week.

In 2018, his play Nickel Dickers won the Encore! Producer’s award at the 2018 Hollywood Fringe Festival.

Breck Denny became engaged to his partner in July 2021, according to a recent Instagram post. Numerous friends and, presumably, fans congratulated Breck and his fiancée, Emily, on the news.

Denny graduated in 2006, judging by a social media post 10 years later. It, therefore, seems likely that Breck Denny was in his mid to late 30s when he passed away – possibly 36 or 37.

What’s he been in?

Among his acting credits are commercials for Ford, Progressive and Mike’s Hard Lemonade.

Meanwhile, some of his more recent television credits include The Friendless Five (as Agent Badu; 2016), Ratched (Burly Orderly; 2020) and The Shrink Next Door (Marcus; 2021).

He also wrote and produced the short film The Last Piece, in 2019 which Will Lowell directed.

Groundlings lists Curb Your Enthusiasm as another recent credit, but it’s not clear which episode he’s supposed to have featured in.

Breck Denny’s death prompts tributes on Twitter and Instagram

Denny’s friend, fellow actor Chris Reed, wrote on Twitter that he wishes “everyone could’ve met Breck Denny”.

Meanwhile, on his most recent Instagram post, of a pet dog he appears to have acquired in August last year, several people have commented with love heart emojis, sad faces and/or “RIP”.

He was reportedly a fan of golf and, as expected given where he’s from, the Cleveland Browns American football team.

Breck Denny’s cause of death is as yet unknown. He will be missed.
