RIP: Bobby Unser dies, aged 87
Bobby Unser was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado in February 1934 and was the third oldest of four brothers. When he was just a year old, the Unser clan moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was the brother of Al, Jerry, and Louis and is the father of Robby Unser.
The famed Unser racing family have won the Indy 500 a record nine times, with Bobby Unser winning three times. He was one of ten drivers to have won the Indy 500 three or more times.

As well as this, he was one of only two to have won it in three different decades. Bobby Unser’s net worth is estimated at around $20 million.
His racing career began as a teenager at the Roswell Speedway in 1949. But it was 1950 when he won his first championship.
Bobby Unser served in the Air Force from 1953-55. However, after this he shifted into USAC racing.
He passed away at home in Albuquerque on Sunday night (2 May). Bobby Unser is survived by his wife, Lisa, sons Bobby Jr and Robby, and daughters Cindy and Jeri.
