The King of Memphis radio, Bobby O’Jay sadly passed away on May 3rd. The radio legend passed while on air, working for WDIA station at 68 years old.
Bobby O’Jay’s radio career spanned 40 years. He joined WDIA in 1983 after deciding that he wanted to embark on a career in radio in Memphis, after moving from his first job in Alabama. In 2021, he was inducted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame.
Who is the late Bobby O’Jay’s wife?
Bobby O’Jay was born in 1953 and was one of nine siblings. The late radio icon leaves behind his wife and six children in 2022.
He was married to Sharon O’Jay until her death in 2017 and later went on to marry Kim in 2020 as per Showbiz Corner.
Judging by Bobby O’Jay’s Facebook page, he and his wife, Kim, were very much in love and he has a photo of his wife set as his cover photo.
As per Fox 13 Memphis, Bobby Ojay said in 2021: “For the last 30 years basically I was very open about my marriage to my wife Sharon, so people knew her like they knew me so when she passed away it was kind of like they had to be on it too, so I talked about that I also talk about my new wife Kim.” he said.
At this time, Bobby’s cause of death hasn’t been released.

Did the DJ have kids?
The Sun reports that Bobby’s six children, from his first marriage to Sharon, are Bonita, Kacey, Chandi, Joey, Nicholas and Joshua.
His family lives in his hometown of Batesville, Mississippi.
Speaking to WREG News Channel 3, Bobby O’Jay’s niece, Wanda Thomas said she was still trying to process the news: “It seems surreal because we just listened to him this morning… he sounded like the picture of health.“
