On Monday, former president Trump opened the Office of the Former President in Florida. Its main purpose will be to look after Trump’s interests and to further the work he had planned while in office. So far, no accompanying website seems to have been set up. We take a closer look at the new logo of Trump’s new Florida office.

Donald Trump opens Florida office

On Monday, former president Trump announced he had finished setting up of the Office of the Former President in Palm Beach County, Florida.

According to a statement the office will be:

“Responsible for managing President Trump’s correspondence, public statements, appearances, and official activities to advance the interests of the United States and to carry on the agenda of the Trump Administration through advocacy, organising, and public activism.”

This office will be a direct way for Trump to communicate with the general public after being publicly banned from most social media platforms earlier this month – including major sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

What is the office of the former president’s logo?

The logo for Trump‘s new office appears to be a copy, or at least a very similar version, of the Presidential seal, or the seal of the United States – but in black and white.

These images contain the phrase “E pluribus unum” which is Latin for “out of many, one.”

The subtle difference is that three stars have been added at the bottom of the seal rather than around the edges.

An example of the presidential seal is below.

And below is the seal of the United States:

The new logo of the Office of the Former President is similar to these images. These similarities occur in the pointed shield from the first logo, as well as the layout of the second. The writing is also split either side of the eagle’s head.

According to the Cornell Law school, section 18 of the US code § 713 states that:

“Whoever knowingly displays any printed or other likeness of the great seal of the United States, or of the seals of the President or the Vice President of the United States…shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.”

There is ongoing discussion on Twitter as to whether Trump has indeed copied too much of the presidential seal.

The Office of the Former President does not yet appear to have an official website. However, this page has popped up with just the seal on a white background, although it does not seem to be associated with the former president.
