Luke Letlow is survived by his wife, Julia Barnhill Letlow, and two young children. Julia thanked those who had prayed for her husband’s health during the last days of his illness.

The family live together in Start, Louisiana. Just two months ago, they were celebrating Luke’s political appointment. He was due to serve in the United States House of Representatives for Louisiana’s 5th congressional district.

Currently, Julia is the Executive Assistant to the President for External Affairs and Community Outreach at the University of Louisiana. Before that, she held various teaching and directorial posts at the university.

The couple recently shared “10 year challenge” images, comparing them a decade ago to them last year.

Julia Letlow, PhD in finding meaning after the loss of a loved one

Mrs Letlow holds a PhD in Communication from the University of South Florida. The title of her final work was in “The Search for Meaning: An Analysis of the Process Survivors Undertake to Find Meaning after the Loss of a Loved One”. 

In other words, she looked at how survivors search for meaning after losing a loved one. This is a grievous irony, given recent developments.

Julia Letlow has suffered a family tragedy before. In 2002, Julia and her sister April founded The Jeremy Barnhill Foundation for Christian Teens, following the death in a car accident of their brother. He was a junior in high school at the time.

The purpose of the charity is to provide financial assistance for young people so that they can participate in Christian activities – something Jeremy loved.
