Who is Doug Mastriano?

Doug Mastriano was born on 2 January 1964 and is a military historian and politician. He currently lives near Caledonia State Park, Pennsylvania. 

Mastriano previously served in the US Army, retiring as a colonel in 2017. He followed in the footsteps of his father, who was in the US Navy. During his time in the army, Mastriano served in West and East Germany, as well as Czechoslovakia during the time of the iron curtain and the Berlin Wall. He was later deployed to Iraq.

He received a PhD in history from the University of New Brunswick, as well as master’s degrees in strategy, military operations, airpower and strategic intelligence.

He is also an author and editor of military history books, including Alvin York: A New Biography Of The Hero Of The Argonne, Thunder In The Argonne and Pershing’s Lieutenants.

A look at his political career

Doug Mastriano beat his Democratic opponent, Rich Sterner, in the 2020 election for the Pennsylvania Senate seat for the 33rd district. This covers all of Adams County, approximately the eastern half of Franklin County, and parts of Cumberland and York counties. 

Mastriano was seeking his first election for a full term, as he was previously elected by a special vote in May 2019.

Doug Mastriano is a Republican and supported Trump in the 2020 election.

Is Senator Doug Mastriano married?

Yes, for more than 30 years in fact. Doug Mastriano’s wife’s name is Rebecca Stewart, now Mastriano.

Rebecca is a chaplain with Marketplace Ministries at Martin’s Famous Pastry Shoppe. The couple have a son together called Josiah, who is an Eagle Scout. The family are devoutly Christian and active members of their church.
