10 older people share one piece of advice they would give their younger self

As you get older and wiser, it’s easy to look back on your life and think about the things you should have done differently.

Speaking to TikTok user Dose of Society, who stops people on the street and asks them to share life advice, 10 older people have revealed what they would tell their younger selves – and their answers will change the way you go about life.

‘Stop panicking’

The first woman would tell her younger self to “stop panicking”. Everything will work out in the end and worrying never helps.

‘Go for it’

“Go for it. Whatever it is, just go for it. Don’t be afraid. Just get out there and live your best life,” said another.

‘Don’t look for what you’ve already got’

The third man said he would tell himself to stop looking for what he’s already got inside himself in somebody else.

‘Do what your mom says’

As you get older, you realise that your parents really were right and you should have listened to them a lot more.

‘Be bold’

Another man would tell his younger self to be “bold,” “confident” and not worry about what other people think.

‘It is just a moment’

Someone else shared a piece of advice that will get you through the hard times: “However bad things are at the moment, it is just a moment.”

‘Live life like you don’t have tomorrow’

One woman would tell her younger self to “live life like you don’t have tomorrow” and make the most of every single second.

‘Love your life’

“Love your life, that is the most important I think,” someone else added. Life is a gift and it goes by so fast.

‘Don’t do anything different’

“Not to do anything different. You wouldn’t be who you are today if you hadn’t experienced everything that we’d experienced,” another man said.

‘I live with no regrets’

The final person wouldn’t tell his younger self anything, saying he lives with “no regrets” and thinks mistakes are there to be learnt from.
