How to link Apple Music Sing to your Apple TV: Compatible devices explored

Apple Music Sing is compatible with Apple TV but unfortunately only with certain models of the device here’s what you need to know about linking Apple’s karaoke feature to your Apple TV.

On December 6, 2022, Apple published a press release introducing Apple Music Sing, a new karaoke-style feature. The feature allows users to sing along to their favorite songs at the press of a button like never before.

We cover how to use Apple Sing, how to link the feature to your Apple TV, and more.

What is Apple Music Sing?

If you’re not already in the know about this fun new feature, Apple Music Sing allows users to sing along to millions of songs while displaying the lyrics in real time.

Perhaps more exciting is the adjustable vocals feature that lets you control the ratio of music to vocals meaning you have the option to sing along to a backing track of your chosen song and have your vocals take center stage.

Users can also activate duet mode in which lyrics for both or multiple parts appear on opposite sides of the screen simultaneously. And finally, you can also adjust the audio so you can only hear backing vocals, similar to traditional karaoke.

Apple has yet to release a catalog of songs that will work with the karaoke feature but has promised “tens of millions of songs.”

Does Apple Music Sing work with Apple TV?

Apple Music Sing does work with Apple TV. However, you need to have the latest generation of the video hub and the most recent software update.

As per 9to5Mac, only the Apple TV 4K 2022 is compatible with the enhanced singalong feature because it requires technology that is only functional on newer devices.

To be able to access Apple Music Sing, you will need the latest iOS update for the Apple TV, tvOS 16.2. The update also includes multi-user voice recognition for Siri.

Multi-user voice recognition means that, if your device is used by multiple people, it can recognize who is speaking and switch to their profile automatically.

How to use Apple Music Sing with Apple TV

If you have a fully updated Apple TV 4K, it should be pretty straightforward to use Apple Music Sing with your Apple TV.

First, you need to open Apple Music on your iPhone or iPad. Next, select a track and press play.

Make sure the song is playing in full-screen mode you can do this by pressing on the play bar at the bottom of your screen.

Next, tap on the lyrics icon to the left of the screen that’s in the shape of a speech bubble with speech marks inside it. Once the lyrics appear, an icon that looks like a microphone will pop up on your screen this is the Sing icon.

To adjust the vocals on the track, press and hold the Sing icon and move it up and down as you would do to change the volume of a track. You can watch a tutorial on how to do this here.
