Genius shopping site shows product you want at considerably cheaper prices
If youve ever found a piece of clothing, or perhaps some furniture that you simply couldnt afford, then youll undoubtedly be pleased to learn of the Dupe site that provides your choices at cheaper prices.
Wherever you are in the world you have undeniably been touched by the ongoing cost of living crisis. It pervades every aspect of our lives, from out of control Big Mac prices, to the extortionate price of US housing.
Dupe finds your picks at a cheaper price
Theres nothing more infuriating than finding the perfect object for your home, only to find its way over budget. One example could be the kitty litter tray that monitors your cats health.
Thankfully, in a world of clever iPhone tricks, theres a technological solution.
The site was brought to the light after shoppers noticed that some of their pricey products had actually come from fast-fashion sites like Shein and Temu. It turns out that many retailers get their stock from the same place.
The site, called Dupe, describes itself as: You can keep shopping like a normie, taking prices at face value and meekly accepting that youre limited by your bank account. Or, you can use Dupe to find lookalikes you can actually afford.
Taking the products you want as a starting point, then letting Dupe search the entire internet for the same or similar items at a fraction of the price. We think its an easy call.
Its worth mentioning that the term dupe has come to mean a number of things. It might be something similar, though not exact, that performs the same role. It could also be the exact same item priced differently. It all depends on what the retailers definition of a dupe is.
Testing out the Dupe site
To test out the wonders of the Dupe site, The Focus turned to arguably the most popular product of 2024, the Stanley Cup!
The iconic Stanley Quenchers have been given new life thanks to the power of social media, so much so that even brands like Starbucks want to get in on the fun.
Dupe pulled in adverts from a range of sites, with Amazon and Stanley being ranked at the top. Beneath were dozens of other options, ranging from $20 to the standard Stanley price of $50.
The Focus also attempted the trick with Gopop’s viral $91 crossed-legged chair, which is currently unavailable from the standard retailer. Instead, Dupe offered alternatives more affordable options priced between $40 and $60.
Online shoppers seem to enjoy the site, as one person penned on TikTok: “I do the same with TikTok shop, so far almost 8:10 with how many things on here I have found on SHEIN and Temu.”
“I was looking for a console at Wayfair and noticed the same console listed a few times under different brands and different prices,” another said.
