Eight vets were asked which breed they think isn’t worth the hype, and pet owners are getting offended in the comments.
Which dog breed is ‘overrated’
A TikTok user walked around the veterinary practice where she works and asked all the staff which dog they think is valued too highly.

Doodles are the most ‘overrated’
Every single vet except one said ‘doodles’ are the most overrated, which refers to any dog breed that is mixed with a poodle.
Cavapoos, Cockapoos, Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, Maltipoos and Bernedoodles are some of the most popular ones and these breeds have skyrocketed in popularity in recent years for their fluffy teddy bear-like coats.
These dogs cross standard breeds like the Labrador, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Bernese Mountain Dog with either a Toy, Miniature or Standard Poodle so that the dog takes characteristics from both.
A study by the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) found that demand for these ‘designer dogs’ has increased as people believe them to be a perfect size, generally healthy, easy to train and good with children. Their hypoallergenic coats are also appealing.
However, there are risks associated with these breeds as huge demand leads to poor breeding for profit, puppy farming and illegal importation of underage puppies. Improper breeding increases health issues and risks of inherited genetic disorders.
Two of the vets also said the French Bulldog is overrated, a brachycephalic breed which can have extensive health issues due to its flat head which results in major breathing problems. According to figures from the Kennel Club, their popularity is declining.
‘Best dog I’ve ever had’
In the comments, ‘doodle’ owners are getting very protective of their Labradoodles and Cockapoos, strongly disagreeing that they are overrated.
One person wrote: “I have a Goldendoodle that I wouldnt trade for the world! Such a good dog.”
“All the doodle hate! Best dog Ive ever had! Though Ive loved them all, shes just amazing! Stop the hate!” said another.
A third person added: “Doodles are the cutest and their hair doesnt fall out, why are they overrated?”
“Doodle owner here. Doesnt shed, rings a bell to go outside, snuggle bug etc. I beg to differ,” someone else added.
